  • Price Update Announcement

In the past 10 years, we have established a fulltime team in Uganda, employing 16 people to aid and advance our mission for clean water. In the last decade, we have never changed our prices despite the advancement in well-drilling equipment. The cost of this equipment and labor continues to rise due to inflation in the country of Uganda. An increase in our well contribution is needed to ensure the quality + longevity of our wells, and pay our amazing ground team fair wages. Our new price to drill a well is $8000 and our price to restore a well is $4000 This price includes the drilling/restoration of the well and ongoing maintenance as needed. We currently supply clean water to over 630,000 people. Thank you for your support over the last 10 years in our mission to bring clean water to the people of rural Uganda. Cheers to another 10! • In the Spotlight:Nmakla Prescovia

Nmakla Prescovia, 10, Bethany Primary student At the site of Kobe and Gianna Bryant’s memorial well, Wells of Life staff was approached by Nmakla, a 10 year old student attending the primary school. Nmakla approached our staff and delivered us a thank you letter, in which she explained the troubles girls in the community faced. “My name is Nmakla Prescovia, on behalf of girls and children in this community, I would like to send my appreciation to the Orange Catholic Foundation for the donation of a [well] you have given us and in memory of Kobe Bryant and Gianna. As girls, we face many problems while fetching water. Such as some girls, some girls get trapped, and others lose their lives. But because of this donation, my dreams of becoming a doctor will not be killed. Thank you OCF for the donation you have given to us and in memory of Kobe and Gianna, may your souls rest in peace. Thank you Wells of Life for all the work you have done!”

  • How the CARES Act changes charitable contribution tax deductions

Previously, charitable contributions could only be deducted if taxpayers itemized their deductions. However, taxpayers who don't itemize deductions may take a charitable deduction of up to $300 for cash contributions made in 2020 to qualifying organizations. For the purposes of this deduction, qualifying organizations are those that are religious, charitable, educational, scientific or literary in purpose. The law changed in this area due to the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act. More information about these changes is available on IRS.gov: Special $300 tax deduction helps most people give to charity this year – even if they don’t itemize | Internal Revenue Service (irs.gov)
