Without preventative maintenance, routine inspections, and access to timely repairs, minor mechanical issues escalate into full system failure. As wells become non-functional, communities revert to unsafe water sources, reversing health, education, and economic gains. This highlights a critical gap in the sector: access alone is not enough. Sustainable water systems require long-term maintenance, oversight, and accountability.
How it works:
GreenWell is a professional maintenance system built in partnership with Uganda’s national water framework. As an appointed Area Service Provider (ASP), Wells of Life provides:

Communities remain involved through local water committees, who help manage communication and participation, while GreenWell handles the technical maintenance and repairs.
User contributions are collected through a transparent, mobile system and pooled to support maintenance across all wells. These contributions are intentionally small and accessible, designed to promote ownership without creating barriers to access. Water is never denied to anyone.
