GreenWell Maintenance
Thank You for Sustaining the Gift of Water. Your support has made life-changing access to clean water possible for millions of Ugandans. The GreenWell Program by Wells of Life is an innovative step forward, ensuring the longevity and reliability of these vital water systems. Partnering with Uganda's Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE), GreenWell serves as an Area Service Provider (ASP) with one clear mission: to sustain clean water access for the 28.4 million Ugandans living in rural areas who depend on these systems every day.
Because of you, we’re not just providing clean water—we’re ensuring it lasts.

Why GreenWell Is a Game-Changer
For decades, Uganda’s rural water systems relied on the Community-Based Management System (CBMS), a locally driven model for well operation and maintenance. While this approach achieved some successes, many challenges persisted: financial instability, difficulty accessing quality spare parts, and limited technical support. Too often, wells fell into disrepair within 2–5 years of installation, forcing communities back to unsafe water sources.
GreenWell transforms this system by introducing CBMS+, an enhanced model that combines the strengths of community involvement with professional management. This approach ensures:
-
Long-Term Functionality: Wells stay operational for years, not months.
-
Transparency and Accountability: Funds are securely managed for their intended purpose.
-
Sustainability Beyond Donor Dependency: Communities become empowered to manage their water systems independently.
Your generosity has allowed GreenWell to bridge the gaps and create a lasting solution.
How GreenWell Works: A Partnership of People and Progress
Your investment in GreenWell fuels a professionalized, data-driven model for maintaining rural water systems:
-
Professional Maintenance: Trained teams perform regular inspections, resolve issues within 24 hours, and ensure key mechanical components like pipes, rods, and cylinders remain in excellent condition.
-
Community Collaboration: Local Water Source Committees (WSCs) collect user fees from community members, which are transferred to GreenWell through a secure, cashless mobile money system.
-
Accountability and Transparency: Centralized fund management eliminates the risks of misuse, ensuring every shilling is reinvested into water system upkeep.
-
Cutting-Edge Technology: Sensors and monitoring tools provide real-time data on well performance, enabling quick repairs and preventing costly breakdowns.
By supporting GreenWell, you’re ensuring communities have access to water they can rely on—day after day, year after year.
