A Safer, More Dignified School Day Has Begun at Kishaki Primary School

We have some good news to share from Uganda!
Thanks to generous support, construction is complete on three new latrine blocks at Kishaki Primary School: seven stances for boys, five for girls, and two for teachers. The girls’ block also includes a private washroom where students can safely manage their menstrual health at school.
The difference is already significant.
On the main campus, boys once shared about 220 pupils per latrine stance. Today, that number is about 49. For girls, the ratio has improved from about 131 pupils per stance to 58.
That means shorter lines, cleaner and safer facilities, more time in class, and greater dignity throughout the school day.
For girls especially, the new private washroom provides something they did not have before: privacy, dignity, and a safe place to care for themselves. Teachers now have a proper permanent facility of their own, too.
This project is about much more than buildings. It is about creating a school environment where children can learn with dignity, girls can manage their health with privacy and confidence, and teachers and students have access to the safe sanitation facilities they deserve.
Thank you for helping make progress like this possible. Your generosity is helping create safer, healthier, and more dignified schools for children across Uganda.

A Thank You from Glorious!

For Primary Seven student Ayebazibwe Glorious, the old girls’ latrine at Kishaki Primary School was crowded, dirty, and had no private place to change during her period.
“When on periods, we would pray for lunchtime to arrive, so we could go home and clean ourselves,” she shared.
Thanks to donor support, the school now has a new girls’ latrine with a private changing room, basin, and water.
“Now I feel comfortable and safe with these facilities and can concentrate in class.”
For Glorious, dignity means being able to stay at school, care for herself privately, and keep learning.
