Esther's Story

In Kakondi Village, clean water is the foundation of daily life. When the community’s only well broke down in 2017, families were forced to return to unsafe water sources, walking long distances, and face constant health risks.

For Esther Nalweyiso, a young mother of two, this meant daily journeys to collect contaminated water while worrying about her children’s safety and health. “It was exhausting and frightening,” she shared. “We had no choice.”

Through Wells of Life’s Operation Restoration program and the generosity of donors Barbara and Jim Van Gaasbeek, well #R525 was restored. Clean, safe water now flows again for more than 190 households.

“Clean water has brought a good change in our lives,” Esther shared with a smile. “Especially for mothers like me. The restored well is improving our health and our livelihoods. I am now able to better take care of my children.”

Today, Kakondi Village is healthier, stronger, and filled with renewed hope. Thank you for restoring more than a well; you restored dignity, stability, and a future for an entire community.
