A Future Within Reach

At Kasawo Institute of Business and Technical Education, students are learning skills that will shape their future. They are training to become mechanics, technicians, and tradespeople, building lives they can be proud of. For 15-year-old Leticia, that future has always been clear. She wants to become a plumber. In a field where women are rarely seen, Leticia saw something different. She saw independence. She saw the ability to solve real problems. She saw a way to support her family and serve her community. She chose a path that not many girls around her take. But for a long time, that dream felt out of reach. “We used to walk miles just to fetch water for our practical lessons,” she shared. “If the water spilled, that was it. The lesson was over. I never truly had the chance to enjoy learning.” Water, something so simple, had become a barrier. At a school preparing over a hundred students for skilled careers, the lack of reliable water made it difficult to practice, to learn, and to grow. Now, water flows just steps from the classroom. Lessons are no longer interrupted. Students can focus, practice, and build a future. For Leticia, everything has changed. “A lack of water was holding me back,” she said. “Now I finally have the chance to practice and become skilled at something I truly love.” And with that, something shifts. A girl stepping into a space not often made for her. A skill that creates independence. A future she is building with her own hands. A future that once felt distant is now within reach. Because of you, students like Leticia are not only gaining access to clean water, they are gaining the opportunity to become who they were meant to be. |
“I want to become a plumber so I can solve real problems in my community and take care of my family. I don’t want to wait for change, I want to be part of it.” |
