Reflections on the Uganda Trip - Max Ssekiwala Share on Facebook

At every well that we visited, the joy of the donor (when present) was unmistakeably present. What had been a promise of funds by one party and drilling by another had actually turned into a fresh-water giving well in a particular village in Mubende district. That was rewarding! It was, however, equally gratifying to see the joy on the faces of the villagers who were claiming ownership of a particular well. Every well signaled the beginning of a new day; a time of lessened anxiety regarding that next jerrycan of water. What was particularly amazing was the realisation that the kids at each well seemed to understand what was going on just as much as the adults did. This new well was big news and life changing for them too, that's why it was important for them to be at the well and not playing kid games somewhere else. With every well visit clean water was truly celebrated by both young and older. Because water is life, giving someone a piece of "life" must be one of the most rewarding experiences anyone can ever wish to be part of.
